Excellence in the Arts

Each year, dozens of Hopkins artists, musicians, and actors put themselves on the line to be evaluated by professionals in their fields, outside of our school community. Through formal auditions, committee votes, artwork submissions, and performance critiques, our students embody the spirit, discipline, persistence, and courage to be counted among the best.

Halo Awards

Congratulations to the 2019-2020 Hopkins Drama Association for earning 21 HALO Award Nominations, including Best Musical (Spamalot) and Best Classical Play (Hamlet)! This is the most nominations HDA has ever received!

The HALO Awards were founded in 2004 by the Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury. The program recognizes the contributions of students to their high school theater programs. Since its founding, the HALO Awards has become the largest such program in the state of Connecticut with over 80 private and public schools participating. Hopkins will participate in the Wednesday, June 24 virtual ceremony, where the Halos will also acknowledge all of the spring productions that were either cancelled or found a way to share their show online.

The Hopkins Drama Association’s podcast production of Execution of Justice was, in fact, honored with the 2020 HALO Innovation Award!
