Zachary Haas is an enterprising trombonist, educator, and activist. Based in New England, he appears frequently with ensembles such as Vermont, Hartford, New Bedford, and New Haven Symphonies, as well as Symphoria, New London Big Band, Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and New World Symphony.   

Establishing himself equally as a soloist and chamber musician, Haas won the 2018 International Bach Trombone Competition and National Trombone Quartet Competition the year prior – also earning accolades in the Susan Slaughter Solo Competition, Edward Kleinhammer Orchestral Bass Trombone Competition, Jeju International Brass Competition, The American Prize Competition, The Tannenwald Competition, and taking the stage at the M-Prize International Chamber Arts Competition. 

Engagements have included performances at the great concert halls of Austria, Germany, England, Czech Republic, Spain, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Russia, Canada, and Australia as well as Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and TD Garden in the USA. Additionally, holding residencies at Artosphere Festival and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Collegium Musicum Academy-Pommersfelden, Colorado College, Lake George, Atlantic, and National Music Festivals.

Haas holds a Master of Music Degree from Yale School of Music, where he was awarded the school’s John Swallow Prize for Brass upon graduation. Prior studies include the Royal College of Music in London and Boston University, cum laude. His principal teachers are Scott Hartman, Gabriel Langfur Rice, and John Rojak.
